DORADO SPARTANS FOOTBALL CLUB

Welcome to the Dorado Spartans website!!! The 2012 Pee Wee Football of PR season is just around the corner and we are very excited to become a part of this great league that has been in Puerto Rico since 1969.

Team sports help kids develop in a variety of ways by teaching discipline, hard work, dedication and teamwork, while helping their bodies stay healthy.  Football is the ultimate team sport, and we are very excited about helping these kids and young men develop into future productive adults in our society.

History

Jose 'Bebo' Arreseigor started playing football in 1982 as part of the Parkville Lions.  The Lions were part of the Pee Wee Football League of PR.  Since then football has been part of his life in one way or another. First, playing in Pee Wee, then High School (PRHSFL) and finally in the Semi-Pro League (PRAFF).  He has also coached in all three leagues starting in 1996.

Even though football has been played in Puerto Rico for over 40 years, most of the municipalities in PR don't have a single football team that calls them home. When Bebo moved to Dorado in 2003, he identified that there was no football in the area, even though there are many football fans in the municipality.

In the Summer of 2010, the Spartans (originally called the Bulldogs) had their first football clinics for kids.  About 15 kids showed up for 4 saturdays in a row to learn the sport.  Many different coaches from the Pee Wee League showed up to help, including Rafael 'Tatito' Hernandez, a local representative that has since joined our staff and become a central piece of what we do.

In the Summer of 2011, the Spartans again had the football clinics, this time with about double the participation of the first year.  At that point the decision was made to prepare teams to participate in the 2012 tournament to start on February 4th.
